Srinagar: A photo-journalist was injured on Friday during clashes between protesters and government forces when he was performing his professional duties.
Bhat Burhan, injured Photo journalist of Good Morning Kashmir was rushed to nearest hospitals by his colleagues where he was provided necessary medical treatment.
Meanwhile , All these policemen who targeted me were non-Kashmiris and their bias and anger was visible when they targeted me said , Bhat Burhan .
Javaid Ahmed, President Jamia Market Traders Federation said that, over 40 thousand devotees including women and children had assembled at Jamia Masjid to offer Friday prayers. “As usual groups of youth protested and pelted stones on Forces personnel outside Jamia Masjid but this time, CRPF and Police jointly emerged on the gates of Jamia Masjid and targeted devotees inside Masjid. They fired pellets and tear-gas shells that hit even women and children. More than 100 persons suffered injuries. Blood was spilled on the floor of the Masjid,” he said.
Pertinently , Jamia Masjid, witnesses protests and clashes after every Friday prayers.
Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressed the gathering at the mosque.
However, forces deployed in the area fired tear gas and pellets to foil the protest, triggering further clashes.
However, Bhat has witnessed the moves and strategy of present regime, it seems, there is no doubt that the government has instructed police to beat media persons and stop them from performing their professional duties .
We strongly condemn the beating of media persons. Time and again, police and CRPF have beaten the media person. We will not demand any action against these policemen who beat our colleague today at Jamia Masjid , while doing his Professional duty . Because we know government is not interested in providing justice,” said Sameer Ahmad , a Photo Journalist .
Mir Suhail , another journalist, said that police lacks the very spirit of professionalism.
