Anantnag buried under thick snow, people angry with administration response

SRINAGAR : The snowfall on Saturday caused a heavy damage to houses and apple orchards in south kashmirs Anantnag district.
According to reports comming from various places including kokernag Bangidar Anantnag, Dialgam, wanihama, Omoh verinag larkipora, Boan and other villages in south kashmir’s Anantnag district various houses and cowsheds were damaged by snowfall after the trees fell on them.
Reports said that Snow slashed away branches from trunks of the apple trees while some trees were even uprooted and damaged various apple orchards in Anantnag district.
Sources told to GMK that aside the natural calamity damaged the properties and apple growers in District on the other side the administration is yet in deep slumber and didn’t take any action. Added that the damage to the apple crop has caused deep sorrow among affected orchardists who demanded that the damages be assessed and sought compensation for the losses.
Reports came from Bulbul Nowgam Shelipora Anantnag where the people didn’t come out from their houses as the district administration is still looking in deep slumber and they didn’t reach on spot to clearence snow on roads. People of the said area alleged that after request several times to authorities but the authorities didn’t bothered.
As the district Anantnag and other parts of Kashmir received the season’s first snowfall on Saturday, most of the district plunged into darkness.
The snowfall caused major damage to electric lines and almost Anantnag district was without electricity.
Our team is working in field we had already restored some areas and essential service lines in district. Added that we will restore electricity very soon in whole district after received first confirmation from field officials. Said Exen PDD Anantnag to GMK.
